Propaganda Posters
This poster was the one used for Germany. The poster itself portrays a soldier with a gun in his hand. The soldier is standing in a prideful way with fire and barbed wire in the background. I think if anyone saw this poster while walking in the street they would stop and stare because of the design itself and the colors. The intended audience for this poster is men around the age of 18 that wanted to join the army. The government would hope that when a man saw this he would greatly consider going to war for their country and defend their people. I do believe this poster did its purpose and made more people feel proud of their country and want to enroll. This poster is the most different out of Britain and the U.S. It has a completely different design that I think more people would stop and stare at. It still has generally the same meaning as the other posters.
This poster was one of many that was used in Britain. This was very similar to the one used in the U.S except it of the line at the bottom, “God Save The King.” That particular line is very important because it ties religion and the monarchy together. There are many people, especially during that time that, that were very religious. So having that line in the poster for enrolling to war could have encouraged more people to join. This poster is more similar to the U.S one than the German one. It has the line at the bottom that attracts people but in terms of the design I think it’s the most plain.
This propaganda poster was the one used for the U.S. When you see this you clearly see the guy wearing U.S attire which could is smart because when people see it they get a sense of pride for their country. The man wearing the U.S attire is staring at the person and is almost intimidating. The wording at the bottom is straight up and to the point. It’s saying to that they want you for U.S army and to enroll at the nearest recruitment center. The capitulation of the word you definitely makes the person feel as if the man staring at him is actually talking to him as an individual. I think all the things in this poster make a good propaganda poster for people to join. This poster and the German are very similar. I think this poster has a bigger advantage over the Britain one because the design is better and attracts more people.
