Dear Family,

  I have decided I won’t be joining the army. I know I will be the disappointment in the family but I do not care. Before I put my life at risk I wanted to really think about it, not just randomly decide to go because everyone else seems to be doing it or because it will make my family more proud of themselves. I am aware that I will be considered a coward but I do not and probably will not regret this decision in the long run. I want to be educated and have a future where I could make something of myself if I had decided to go to war that would have been very unlikely to happen. I have tried my best to find the cause of this war, as much as a woman during this time has ability to, and it seems to be all over the place. The cause of this war seems to be all over the place, and I want to know what i’m fighting for, not just “do it for my country.”I have read of what the trenches and battlefields are like. No matter how much the government tries to hide the truth and make it seem like we’ll enjoy going even though it is war.

  I have the strength and capability to go and since I am deciding not to many people will probably judge me and you guys. I don’t care of what anyone says, they can have their own opinions, but I do care what you guys say since family has always been an important aspect of my life. Just know I will take in consideration what you guys tell me and read it with an open mind but there is little to no chance that you can change my decision.
