The Peace Treaties of 1919

The Peace treaties were signed after the First World War had ended. Germany and Austria-Hungary were the losers  . Germany was blamed for starting the war and had lots of land, money and military taken in the Treaty of Versailles.

Blame
Land
Money
Military

Britain- British people thought Germany was to blame for the war and wanted it punished.

Germany- Had to accept blame for starting the war in a "war guilt" clause.

Germany and Poland- Germany lost land to Poland losing some of Germany in the process.

Czechoslovakia- Was given some German land called the "Sudeten Land". Lots of German people lived in it.

Yugoslavia- Was a new country created from the land taken from Austria-Hungary.

Austria and Hungary- Land is split into two different countries. Austria was not allowed to join Germany.

Britian and France- Decided that Germany should pay money for war damage.

Germany- The navy was only allowed 6 battleships and no submarines.

Germany- The German army was cut to 100,000 men.

France- Wanted Germany punished and her military weakened to protect themselves.

C.

The thing the Germans would like least about the Peace Treaties is that they were the ones that everyone else blamed for the war. Since they were responsible for the war they were the ones that had to pay for all the reperations. This is definetely the part the Germans probably hated more, being blamed for everything and then having to fix it.  Fixing it wouldn't be that easy either, they would be in a lot of debt because the war caused a lot of damage.
