System of Alliances

In order to be successful in a war a country needed a large army, so coutries built up their army to go to war.

Nationalism helped in a war because people that had a lot of pride in their country would do anything for it. For example, fight in a war.

The more people that has pride for their nation the more would enroll in the army. This made a countries army to get bigger and stronger.

Many countries such as Britian,Germany, and Russia wanted take control over land in Africa but since they couldn't all have it they fought for it.

Countries made alliances with other countries so that if a war started they would have other people to back them up.

Countries also built up their army because they noticed other countries doing it and felt they needed to aswell.

Alliances were good to keep peace but they were also bad sometimes. If a country got into an argument with another country they dragged all of their allies into war.

Countries also went to war to take away land from other Countries. It was sort of a competition to see which country could get more land.

Militarism was one of the main causes of world war 1 because countries thout building their armies was a good way to defend themselves in case another country attacked them.

Countries that formed alliances with eachother weren't necessarily the best of friends, they mostly were in it to defend themselves or if they got something out of the alliance.

Militarism effected imperialism a lot. If a country wanted to take over a certain colony they needed a strong army so that incase another country wanted to take it they would be prepared to fight.

The beliefs of the people that had a lot of nationalism were extreme. They made other countries seem evil and like they were destryoing the country they were in. These beliefs made a lot of citizens enroll into the army therefore making the army more powerful.
